Akon Tasks African Press To Re-write Our Story

Senegalese-American singer, Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam popularly known as Akon has tasked Africans especially the press, to re-write our own story in a positive light.

Speaking at the “Youth Connekt Summit”, the ‘Don’t Matter’ hitmaker, bemoaned how “the west” often portrays Africa in the negative light. He however employed Africans and the African press to tell our own story.

Akon also added that there are a lot of things in the US that they don’t let the world see, however, African press is always quick to put out our negative information to the world.

The images they show about Africa are so negative. It’s conditioning what we believe. Africa has a rich story too. More people died in Chicago, more school shootings in America but they won’t show you that,” he said.
